This Month at The Local - 02/20

The Local at Lake Walk

This Month at The Local 02.20.24

The wait is nearly over! Same time, but with an all-new look and feel. February 20th will kick off The Local in a way you haven’t experienced before; remixed, reimagined, and reinspired all for you. Lake Walk has been a little lonely without all of our favorite vendors, vibrant appreciators of small businesses, and furry friends at the pavilion on Tuesdays. Did we mention live music? Each month we will feature local artists that will bring their relaxing sounds right to the lake each month at The Local. Bring your squad and join us on February 20th from 4-7 PM at The Local to shop handmade goods from vendors across the Brazos Valley.

This Week's Lineup

Vendor Lineup | February 20th, 2024

WildSunflower Cake Studio L.L.C.

Kicking off our first vendor highlight of 2024, we couldn't help but share the deliciously sweet lineup of dessert art that Alexandra will bring to the market this February.

Teacher, dancer, and founder of WildSunflower Cake Studio launched in 2022, Alexandra's passion and talent for baking was always in her blood. Growing up the daughter of a well-known baker in Puerto Rico, Alexandra watched her mother's gift delight the lives of others. When Alexandra's mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she knew that she needed to honor her mother and continue to support her family through their shared passion.

"My desire is to continue her legacy and honor her while keeping her passion that is also my passion alive."

Inspired to continue her mother's legacy, Alexandra will bring her cupcakes, cake pops, and gluten-free products to The Local this month. Stop by, meet the incredible woman behind this operation, and try her famous strawberry cake pop; you will surely be coming back for more!

Mother-Daughter Duo: Cliffs + Caves

Meet this month's musicians at The Local - Lindsey and Claire Justice! This mother-daughter duo will delight all of the senses with their deeply personal, relatable stories through songs that touch listeners across generations. Native Texans, Cliffs + Caves has become known for their unique blend of Contemporary Americana music that highlights the musicality and uniqueness that only can be felt with talent that flows through generations of dedicated artists.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Lake Street Dive, and Patty Griffin, Cliffs + Caves will also showcase some of their newer material; diving deeper into the human experience with a slightly more alternative sound.

As you shop from new and returning vendors this season, experience soothing lyrics and sounds that will lift you up as the calm breeze drifts across the lake. You won't want to miss Lindsey and Claire this month at The Local!

John Kaser

The Local tote bags are back for 2024 with an exciting, reimagined feel. John Kaser, a local graphic designer, partnered with The Local this year to give a new perspective and appreciation to our vendor community.

Originally from Southern California, John has gotten to experience first-hand the unique atmosphere on Tuesdays at The Local and created a tote that employs each and every element.

You may have seen John at The Local in years past as his partner, Ashley, has personalized many tote bags with her chain stitch embroidery company, Double Vision. Stay tuned for a sneak peak of this year's tote bag and get your own at our first market of the year on February 20th!
