Guest Highlight

This week we are excited to start our guest highlights. We love making new friends at The Local so be sure to swing by the Lake Walk tent to say hi and ask any questions you may have about The Local!

This week we are featuring a long time guest, Tali Grant.

"I am from College Station & I’ve been coming to The Local for a few years! I would consider myself to be a loyal visitor and the community is just amazing!

It’s so hard to pick just one favorite vendor. Everyone is so great! However, I have 2 dogs (Drum & Zapp) who are usually tagging along with me when I go to The Local so we usually make a pit stop to pick out new bandanas from our pal Percy at Percy’s Corner. All the food vendors bring me back! You can never go wrong with a lemonade from Lemonade House or a sweet treat from Moonstruck Co."

A special thank you to Alchemy Cookies, Corner Tang Wood Crafts , and Shan's Hands Creations for sponsoring this week's giveaway, a Grad Gift Basket. Learn more about the creators of these businesses and what the basket will include below.

To sign up for your chance to win Grad Gift Basket with special graduation cookies from Alchemy Cookies, a charcuterie board from Corner Tang Wood Crafts, and earrings from Shan's Hands Creation, head to Lake Walk's tent.

This giveaway entry is only open at The Local during operating hours. To sign up, simply head to the welcome table at the Lake Walk tent and scan the QR code or head to the highlighted vendor where they will also have a QR code giveaway form.

Q & A with Alchemy Cookies owner, Elyssa Nunez

How long has your business been in operation?

1.5 years

How did you get started?

I learned how to make decorated sugar cookies when I was in high school. Once I went to college there was little time for this hobby. I graduated college in the middle of the pandemic and found myself with lots of time at home. I practiced making small batches and would leave them on my neighbor's doorstep. I saw how happy these gifts made people and I wanted to continue making others happy with my sweet treats.

What products can customers expect from you?

I love making decorated sugar cookies to match the season or upcoming holiday! You can expect to find anything from single decorated cookies to sharables to edible activities for the kids. Keep a look out for my newest item, sprinkle drop cookie sandwiches!

What is your favorite product you offer?

My favorite product are my piñata cookies! You can break them in half and a confetti surprise falls out. These sell out fast so come early!

What is one thing customers might not know about you/your business that you'd like them

to know?

One thing you may not know about me is that I am a biochemist! The name of my business combines my two passions. Not only do I love making cookies for others but I also love the science behind it.

Why do you think people should visit The Local?

The Local is an awesome way to meet vendors who may also be your neighbors! There are so many talented vendors who participate in The Local and contribute to our community.

Q & A with Corner Tang Wood Crafts owner, Christina Shirley

How long has your business been in operation?

6 years

How did you get started?

All the Corner Tang Wood Crafts products are created in our local workshop. This is the shop where we go for therapy. Sawdust therapy. Over the last 26 years, this therapy has been the place where the furniture for our home, along with the gifts for friends and family have been created. In 2016, we decided that since the house is full, we would start to sell some of the products from the workshop. In 2020 we moved to College Station and are excited to share our creations with the Bryan/College Station community. Like most artists, we have ideas on the inside that need to be manifested outside. We hope you like them as much as we like making them!

What products can customers expect from you?

Wooden Boxes made from different types of wood. The lids of the boxes are created using colorful epoxy resin or wood burned designs or using antlers. New this season are the awesome Charcuterie Boards. These too are made of different types of wood and some include colorful epoxy resin.

What is your favorite product you offer?

The awesome Charcuterie Boards

What is one thing customers might not know about you/your business that you'd like them

to know?

The various items we make are available in 10 types of wood.

Why do you think people should visit The Local?

To check out the creativity of the community in and around Bryan / College Station. And to just be outside.
