Your 2024 Guide to The Local

New year, new guide! With the start of The Local 2024 approaching this February, we wanted to give you a guide to the remixed, reimagined, and reinspired era of The Local. Whether you want to know what it looks like to be a vendor, how to audition to become a performer at our markets, or learn about the 'Top 10 Tricks for Your First Market,' this guide will help you fully experience all that The Local has to offer with the first-hand tips from our Market Manager.

This year at The Local, we have reinspired, reimagined, and remixed to create a new and improved era of The Local! This guide will help you fully experience all that The Local has to offer, from one of the creative individuals that curates this experience for you.

The Importance of Artisans

We create a platform to uplift and showcase the best creators, producers, and makers in the Greater Brazos Valley and beyond. A handful of artisans took a leap of faith with us back in 2017. Now, we have the opportunity to host a market that over 100 vendors are proud to call one of their homes. Without the dedication and support of local artisans, The Local could not support and uplift their businesses through our markets. Each of our artisans has a unique talent and story that they have chosen to share with our community, so I hope that you will take the time on a Tuesday to come listen.

Experience The Local

Each market is unique with a new lineup of vendors, musicians, artists, and more! Held on each 3rd Tuesday of the month, come and try homemade treats inspired by cultures around the world or find inspiration in accessories and home goods that are as one-of-a-kind as you. Each market is centered around Lake Walk Pavilion from 4-7 PM, so be sure to visit each vendor because you never know when you’ll see them next.

More Than Just a Market

This year we have added live music to our market and will continue to expand our ability to showcase more artists of all disciplines. There will be one live performance at The Local starting at 5 PM featuring a rising star in our community. In addition to this performance, we hope to allow budding musicians a chance to audition live throughout the year. If you’re interested in being a musician at The Local, follow this link to learn more!

5. Tote Bags? Yes, Please!

What better way to experience local art than by picking up a tote bag designed by a local artist? Since our inception in 2017, The Local has utilized tote bags to help tell the story of our community. This year we have partnered with local graphic designer, John Kaser with Double Vision, to help create a tote that reflects who we are. Right now, the only way to see this year's exclusive design is to come to The Local while our daily supply lasts.

6. Bring the Whole Crew - Both Two and Four-Legged 🐾

No need to leave your beloved furry friends at home; The Local at Lake Walk is a pet-friendly haven! With multiple pet waste stations and sprawling trails throughout Lake Walk, you'll want to come shop with your favorite four-legged bestie. Our leashed pets throughout Lake Walk bring another exciting element to The Local on Tuesdays and we hope you'll consider bringing your companion to experience it all with you.

7. Need a Pick-Me-Up? Try POV Coffeehouse ☕️

At POV you can find specialty espresso-based drinks made by baristas that specialize in making each moment memorable. With their witty banter, question of the day, and custom-blended beans from Polite Coffee Roasters, each day at POV will be a unique and welcoming experience.

8. Dinner at Kanji and Campfire 🍣

If you're looking for something more substantial than treats and snacks, look no further than our local dining rooms! Kanji Sushi features modern Japanese fair and fresh sushi using fish delivered daily. During The Local, check out Kanji Social Hour for small bites and craft cocktails. Campfire Restaurant delivers impeccable service and innovative dishes with their devotion to creating dishes with all the flavors and depth of Texas heritage.

9. Meet Our Talented Artisans 👋

At the heart of all we are at The Local, there are passionate vendors with stories and talent that deserve a platform to be shared. Each of our vendors goes through a selective recruitment process that includes the story of how they became an artisan. Don't be afraid to ask them what inspired their latest products or learn how your support impacts their lives.

10. Relax! Enjoy An All-Immersive Experience ☀️

The Local at Lake Walk has so much to offer from our artisan vendors, budding musicians, and thriving retail community that we get to call home. Each market is unique as the ecosystem we are cultivating grows each month.
